Stay Current

"Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a new technology you can use to have information sent to you, rather than having to go look for it. Many Web sites, including Microsoft's, offer RSS as a way to have headlines delivered to you."

- Microsoft

You can keep current with the ICC blog right in your email, on your desktop or with live bookmarks. We publish an RSS feed, which you can use in different ways to have the content of our blog/news pages displayed for you where ever and however you want. The following describes just a few examples of how to use this service. You can also read this excelent article at the New York Times about RSS feeds.

Email

Thunderbird Email ClientIf you don't have Mozilla Thunderbird as your email client, look for the keyword "RSS" in your email client's help and see if your client supports RSS feeds.

If you use Mozilla Thunderbird, you can get the ICC blog in your email as easy as can be. Click on the screenshot to the right and you will see that when you click on "RSS Feeds" in the left hand window, the right hand window will show you a menu from which you can select "Manage subscriptions." That will open a window called "RSS Subscriptions." Click the "Add" button and all that's left to do is cut and paste the RSS feed URL into the blank field. Click "Okay" and you're done. The ICC blog is automatically downloaded to your email client!

Web Browser

Mozilla FirefoxMicrosoft Internet Explorer doesn't yet have a way to handle RSS subscriptions, but if you use Mozilla Firefox, subscribing to RSS is as easy as a right click. When you browse to a web site with an RSS feed, an RSS feed notification icon appears in the bottom right border of the browser. Right click on that icon, and you will be given the option to create a "live bookmark." Simple as that.

RSS Readers

Google ReaderThere are many ways to have RSS content delivered to your desktop, but one of the simplest is to use Google's new application, Google Reader, to organize all your RSS feeds in one place, on one page, where they can all be easily reviewed. Or if you already use Google's new personalized home page, simply add the RSS feed there, and you'll see the latest from ICC and your other important news sources when you fire up your web browser each morning! When you're viewing your personalized home page, signing up is as easy as clicking on "add content" in the upper left corner, then adding the ICC feed URL into the search box that appears in the content manager sidebar on the left.
