Race for Grace 2007

Fundraising doesn’t have to be painful. In fact, sometimes it can actually be fun! Here are some great ways to raise money for ICC’s programs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Join the Race for Grace Team

Run, walk, bike, swim—whatever you like to do, you can do it for a good cause as part of a Race for Grace Team. Race for Grace Teams are groups of ICC supporters who participate in a sporting event or race to raise money for children at Grace Children’s Hospital and throughout ICC’s programs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Find a race or event, like a marathon, in your area that you would like to participate in. Make sure this event is not already a fundraiser for another organization or cause.
  2. See the list of current teams below, check the ICC Events Calendar or contact ICC to find out if there is a Race for Grace Team already formed for this event. If not, you can start your own.
  3. Create a personalized fundraising web page at www.firstgiving.com/iccusa and email it to friends and family. Send letters asking for support to your relatives and friends who don’t use email. Their donation will honor your effort, help children and families in need, and is also tax-deductible.
  4. Send in all your offline pledges to the ICC office after the event, so we can make sure to thank you and all the donors who supported you.

Current Race for Grace Teams:

Ask for Alternative Gifts

You can brighten the day of a child you’ve never met by requesting donations to ICC in place of traditional birthday, holiday, or wedding gifts. Encourage your friends and family to use our Alternative Gift Catalog, or simply make an online donation and choose the “on behalf of” option.

Host an Event

A fundraising event doesn’t have to be a black tie gala. It can be as simple as a backyard BBQ or a beans and rice lunch in the fellowship hall after church. Friends of ICC have done everything from dog washes to ice cream socials to silent auctions to raise money for the children of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Whatever it is you would like to do, the ICC office can help you by providing brochures and display materials. Our experienced staff also has some good advice about planning and hosting successful fundraising events. In some cases, a staff or board member may be able to come and speak to the group at your event. Contact us for more information.
