History of ICCInternational Child Care began more than thirty years ago, when James and Virginia Snavley made their first trip to Haiti. What began as a vacation became a mission of love, as they committed themselves to answer God's call to serve the least of all, the suffering and needy children whose eyes seemed to plea "Why me?"
The circle of friends who support the work started by Jim and Virginia has widened, as individuals and church communities in cities throughout North America have become partners in mission with International Child Care. Each day, with their help, we recommit ourselves to our mission:
From the seeds of love which were nurtured by the Snavley's whole-hearted faith in God, International Child Care has grown to be living proof that God is able to do much, much more than we can ever imagine. Through God's grace, the dedicated and caring staff members of ICC/Grace Children's Hospital continue to welcome and treat children in need, offering hope to countless families and providing every possible chance for a bright and blessed future for these precious little ones. Compelled by their faith in Christ, the Snavleys decided to open a small clinic for boys and girls with tuberculosis. Writing to their friends in North America, they shared a vision to restore health and wholeness to hurting children - one precious life at a time. With these friends, they moved forward in prayer and determination. And their busy clinic became the forerunner of International Child Care's health ministry. Rooted in that simple, bold vision, ICC has grown into a leading health development agency that reaches thousands of suffering children each year. Working through a variety of innovative health programs, ICC provides compassionate medical care and addresses underlying causes to change the conditions that make people sick, hungry and afraid.
